Summer Institute

The Summer Institute at GCU is a premier Christian camp experience. Experience college life and get an up-close look at the career fields that interest you. Each of the three days and two nights is full of both academic experiences and fun, exciting activities.

Fall 2020 high school juniors and seniors can attend one or all of the following dates:

Session 1: Monday, June 8 - Wednesday, June 10
Session 2: Monday, June 15 - Wednesday, June 17
Session 3: Monday, June 22 - Wednesday, June 24

Each session offers students the following program tracks:

  • Business
  • Engineering
  • Performing Arts and Production - Digital Design
  • Pre-Medicine and Sports Medicine
  • Psychology and Criminal Justice
  • Technology

Each camp session costs only $100.

 

Business

In the business track, students will learn the critical thinking and analytical skills required today’s complex business environments through hands-on projects and activities. Students will engage with faculty and current business students to discuss how servant leadership, ethics, hospitality entrepreneurship are intertwined in the modern world of business.

Engineering

Explore the field of engineering through hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical and biomedical engineering. The engineering program track offers aspiring engineering students the opportunity to engage with our expert faculty on an intellectual and academic level. Activities, workshops and labs come directly from GCU’s rigorous engineering curriculum and allow students to gain a deeper understanding of what it really takes to become an engineer.

Performing Arts and Production – Digital Design

The graphic design and advertising track will apply the design thinking process to a variety of hands-on projects. Students will develop their own personal branding and identity campaigns through activities in social media, photography, hand lettering, copywriting, paper craft and graphic design.

Psychology and Criminal Justice

This program track offers students aspiring to a career in the justice field or in the field of psychology insight into what it means to be a part of both fields. Students will engage in psychological and social behavior studies, interaction with a police canine team and participate in Q&A sessions with police officers.

Pre-Medicine and Sports Medicine

Students in the pre-medicine and sports medicine program have the opportunity to engage in both domains of medicine. Students looking to enter the medical field will gain deep insight into anatomy, kinesiology, athletic training, nutrition, pre-physical therapy and other medical aspects. The camp allows students to get true experience in the anatomy cadaver lab and in our state-of the-art athletic training labs. Students learn hands-on skills each day and explore the scientific practices and knowledge necessary for a career in both fields of medicine.

Requirements

High school students are required to have a GPA of at least 3.0 (unweighted) to attend camps. Students must submit unofficial transcripts to [email protected] prior to being confirmed to attend.


Thunder Vision STEM Day Camp

For incoming 6th - 9th graders

Join GCU for STEM exploration, including interactive hands-on learning, discussions with industry insiders and engaging activities. Facilitated by experienced GCU faculty and experts, these camps are offered to get middle school students excited about STEM and introduce them to a future career in these areas. STEM experiences will cover areas such as cybersecurity, engineering, robotics, bioscience and technology. Campers will also have the opportunity to learn all about GCU and tour our vibrant campus!

Summer Science Camp

For incoming 2nd - 5th graders

This science exploration experience, hosted by the GCU Learning Lounge®, is an authentic encounter with science perfect for elementary school students. Participants will integrate their newfound scientific knowledge with literacy and language skills.

Athletic Camps

Grand Canyon University is hosting the Lopes Sports Camps program for athletes of all ages and skill levels! Camps are led by our very own coaches and players.

Per NCAA rules, all sports camps and clinics conducted by Grand Canyon University are open to any and all entrants. Enrollment is only limited based on age, grade level, gender or number restrictions as specified by each camp.
