The 2017 Think Big Summer Math Institute offers an exciting new vision for what it means to teach and learn mathematics. Designed for high school mathematics educators and school teams, this engaging workshop is taught by Dr. Scott Adamson and Dr. Trey Cox, two leading education mathematicians. Experience ways to promote the conceptual development of important mathematical ideas, develop teacher mathematical content knowledge and learn strategies to facilitate professional development that makes sense of Think Big math practices.
Using the Standards for Mathematical Practice as a framework, you will experience a conceptual development of linear and quadratic functions using covariational reasoning, rate of change and mathematical modeling as a theme. You will also build important ideas related to statistical modeling by making sense of big mathematical ideas.
